Glen Eagle Maintenance (2/28/25)

Rain

Course is looking nice and green after the rain on Monday. In total we ended up with right at 1”. I hate that it pretty much washed out golf for the day but we really did need the rain. It also allowed us to keep off the irrigation for a couple days, preserving some of the water we have in the lakes.

Today was one of our busiest days of the year so far. Lucas tells me we had 280 rounds. Made me think about illustrating how traffic affects our course. Below is a drone picture of hole #3. It is one of the many holes where carts tend to exit the cart path immediately after the tees instead of traveling down the path and using the 90 degree rule. You can clearly see the wear pattern that creates verses other areas of the hole. I was actually surprised how many carts cut down the right side of the tee which is not the preferred route either.

After seeing the traffic pattern from the drone, I took a look at the data from the cart GPS system and was really shocked by the amount of traffic in general, but as suspected, GPS shows the same areas of concentrated as in the aerial picture.

Also interesting is that these pictures show that there is almost no area of the course that doesn’t get significant amounts of traffic.

Mostly routine maintenance this week but David and Sylvestre did a get in a little bridge repair too.

Glen Eagle Maintenance (2.21.25)

It was an interesting week here at Glen Eagle. On Tuesday, the 9 hole Ladies (3 Jills & a Jack) played in the murder mystery tournament - Par for the Corpse. The rumor was someone had murdered Lucas and it took Glen Eagle members help to find out who the killer was!

Clues were left on the golf course and ultimately I (aka Mr. Green) was accused of the crime.

It was all in good fun, truth is about the only things I kill are weeds and a good steak!

We just missed the rain this week and there have been some hot spots on the course but still looking pretty good out there. The slightly cooler weather over the next week should be really nice and will hopefully help us get back on top of those fore mentioned hot spots.

The lake bank repair in Lago Villaggio that was postponed last year due to the early rain is starting this week. We look forward to getting this project done early this year.

Last but not least, just to prove Superintendents get bad lies too. I played on Sunday and ended up right behind the new tree on 17.

Glen Eagle Maintenance (2/14/25)

 

I hope everyone is enjoying the weather and the golf course. Hard to believe it is February with the warm weather we have been having. The golf course is looking great and loving the weather too!

As with most weeks this time of year, our team has been up to routine and detail tasks. Here is some of what we had going on…

Glen Eagle Maintenance (2/7/25)

The warm weather and sunshine has significantly increased turf growth and restored the green color to the course. Well along with granular and foliar fertilizer 😁

Even-though we are starting to have some increased turf growth, please continue to fill divots and fix ball marks.

We have been missing a couple of trees from the course for a while. This week we planted two Bald Cypress as replacements.

We also had some sidewalk panels replaced along Glen Eagle Blvd to reduce tripping hazards.
