Maintenance Updates (2/17/23)

 Golf Maintenance

I’m hearing good things about the course and other than being tight due to cart traffic I am happy with where we are for February. About the only thing that would make it better would be some rain (at night of course). We are very dry and need to start conserving water as and where we can as it could be quite some time (possibly June) before we get enough rain to make a difference in our lakes, the primary source of our irrigation water.

Facilities

This week we have concentrated on items that have been on our facilities list for quite some time. Many of them are not very visible but just as important to complete as many of our larger projects. Here are a few examples of the types of items we are working on.

Swapping out the hands free door opener on the freezer at the kitchen (no more scrapped shins)

Maintenance Update (2/10/23)

 

Golf Course

The golf course has really benefitted from the warm weather, sunshine and fertility we applied over the last couple weeks. I realized after I wrote that sentence it sounded like I was taking credit for applying the warm weather and sunshine but in reality I had nothing to do with that, only the fertilizer. 😁

The product has been very green grass and some additional growth. With roughly 300 rounds a day I can certainly see the wear on the course but for the most part we are holding our own and in good shape.

This morning we had Aerification Plus back to preform another pencil tine. We do this practice every other month or so during season to relieve compaction and keep air and water moving in and out of the soil profile/root zone.

I wanted to highlight the pine tree on the right side of #17 that we “snagged” a couple weeks ago.

This tree is a focal point of the hole and affects the way the hole is played so we didn’t want to take it down until we can establish a new treen in it’s place. We snagged it by cutting off the exterior portions of the branches which are the weakest/most likely to break off and fall to the ground creating a safety hazard.

The remain portions of the tree will be strong enough to remain in place until a new tree is established. Meanwhile the tree will continue to be used by birds, squirrels and other wildlife to live in and perch upon.

The plan is to add a tree in front of the dead pine tree sometime this summer.

Maintenance Updates (2/3/23)

The golf course is really green thanks to the warm weather and fertilizer that was recently applied.

Common Grounds

Common grounds are showing off a bit too. Flowers are big and colorful!
