Glen Eagle Maintenance (11/21/24)

 Finally some cool weather. I know not everyone has been looking forward to it like I have but the summers seem to get longer and longer every year.

The golf course and landscape is looking good this week and feedback is that the greens are rolling nicely. They will likely speed up a bit this weekend if the temperatures drop like predicted.

This week we continued working on several projects before peak golf season arrives…

Trimming Calusa to promote height

Trimming palmettos off the sidewalk

Freshening up the landscape near the parking lot and putting green

Johnny, our new irrigation tech keeps knocking off items off his list…

Repairing downspouts behind the restaurant lanai

Topdressing scalped areas around drainage

Cleaning out fertigation containment area

Repairing ficus irrigation at Radio Road

And repairing broken irrigation line behind the Pro Shop

Glen Eagle Maintenance (11/15/24)

It has been great to see so many members back in November and our staff appreciates your kind compliments about the course condition. They worked very hard during a trying summer to get us where we are today.

We had a lot of work going on at the club this week. One item was the installation of the new fountain in the lake on hole #1, near the Davis entrance.

With the nice weather this last week, our staff was hard at work. Here are some pictures of what they were working on…

Finally got out the fertilizer/Ronstar app that we have been delaying due to wind and rain since mid October too…

One more picture of the Ospreys using their new nest! They appear to be adding material to the nest which is a great sign that they will be using it as their home for many years to come.

Glen Eagle Maintenance (11/8/24)

 A lot good things happening in the maintenance department this week.

First, I would like to thank the Leary’s for bringing over some delicious snacks for the the staff this week. A perfect morning pick-me-up at the end of our first tasks!

Next, this week I spotted an Osprey on the Osprey platform that was installed earlier this year. Pablo, our Tennis Professional noted that the Osprey visited the light where the old nest had been and immediately flew to the new nest location and started setting up shop. If the Osprey continue to use the new location it will be great for them and the tennis players.

Between our fertility program, higher humidity and recent rainfall, the course has been really green. The fairways have been especially full and colorful lately. Once the is storm (Rafael) gets out of here and the sun comes out I expect very nice conditions.

On November 1st we put out new course accessories (flags, flagsticks, and cups). The new equipment looks very nice!

We also filled our open Irrigation Tech position. Johnny McDonald recently moved to Naples from Maine. Since Gustavo moved into the Assistant Superintendent role he has been pulling double duty covering the irrigaiton position until we found the right person. Having Johnny on board will allow Gustavo to increase his time dedicated to team management while Johnny tackles the irrigation responsibilities. Please welcome Johnny to the team as you see him out on the course.

With the start of ladies and mens days this week, the team worked on cleaning up some of the off the course areas.

And planted some new plants at the Radio Road entrance
