Glen Eagle Maintenance (6/24/26)

I think this graphic says it all. Extremely hot here in Naples and forecasted to continue with no certain end in sight. I know, it's Florida, it's expected to be hot in the summer. This summer has been different, mostly due to the fact that we have had very little rain. A normal summer is hot during the day then in the afternoon/evening rain storms build from the heat and cools us down. Normal overnight temperatures are in the low to mid 70's, this year due to the lack of rain, there have been nights we haven't dropped below 80 degrees.

The golf course is doing well but as you can see from this picture, we could really use the rain.

In addition to the hot and dry weather, the main focus this week has been to get the tee perimeters defined and start laying sod on the slopes. Here are some pictures of the process.

Glen Eagle Maintenance (6/17/26)

 It has been dry and really hot since my last post. Highs have been in the 90's with feels like temps of over 100 degrees for several days now. The upcoming forecast calls for even hotter and drier weather with feels like temps of up to 106".

With the dry weather, we are not catching up on our rain amounts and the lakes are still very low, especially for the middle of June. We have only had 2.78" of rain so far this June, our normal average month-to-date is 9.17".

Even with the dry weather, the course looks like it is loving the hot weather and grass growth is in full swing.

Our Tee Regrassing is still on schedule (thanks to the dry weather) and we should be throwing grass by the end of the month.

We completed the bridges behind 3 green and 15 tee during the past closure and will work on 3 tee and 4 tee bridges next closure.

Here is a quick video of the finishing activities of the 1st summer closure. We look forward to everyone enjoying the "new short course" as we reopened for play yesterday. A lot of mowing and final cleanup plus some fertilizer to keep the healing going.

Glen Eagle Maintenance (6/10/26)

Another productive week for maintenance here at Glen Eagle. We had some rain (1.33" over 3 days) but it came after we shut down for the day and was just the right amount to give the grass a drink without messing up any of the work we had going on.

Course looks beat up but will bounce back pretty quickly once we quit scalping it later this week.

This week we worked on the following items:

- Rolling greens
- Mowing greens
- WTW aerificaiton
- Collar & Approach aerificaiton
- More Fwy circle cutting
- Bunker face scalping
- Collar scalping
- Core aerifying traffic areas
- Plenty of blowing & debris pickup

The remainder of the week will be used to clean up the course. Monday we will put out the yardage markers, tee markers etc. in preparation for opening on Tuesday. The course will be shorter due to the tee project but come on out and shoot your best scores as we improve the quality of our course.

The Tee and Bridge projects are still on schedule. Except for a few finishing touches, the bridge on 15 was complete this week and the they are starting to laser level the tees. I hope to have grass on the front 9 tees next week.

Glen Eagle Maintenance (6/2/26)

 As you would expect, we have had a lot going on this first week of the course closure. Our major cultural practices are going well and on schedule, and the tee leveling/regrassing and bridge work have started as planned. I had a lot of pictures and videos from the first two days of the closure so I consolidated them into a short movie linked below.
