Been a busy week around Glen Eagle. We got a lot of work done on our closed Monday (see below) which is why having that maintenance day is so important. We have also been lucky enough to receive 2.0” of rain since Sunday with the potential for more to come thru the end of the week. I saw post below online which indicates we will need approx. 45” of rain this summer to erase our total rain deficit. So, we still have a ways to go but hopefully the wait for rainy season has about come to an end.
Some of the work we completed on Monday…
Spiked Greens (2x)
Spiking stimulates turf growth and density by cutting grass stems which forces the turf to produce more branches where leaf tissue grows from. It also breaks up any algae that may be under the surface of the turf canopy, and provides some increased air/water/gas exchange in the top half inch of the soil.
Lightly Topdressed Greens
Light topdressing smooths the greens surfaces and gives new tissue a place to grow into.
Fertilized Greens
Fertilizer encourages dense growth
Watered in Fertilizer
Water after fertilizer application disperses and breaks down the fertilizer for the plant to use. It also helps prevent any potential burn that could occur by the elements in the fertilizer staying in contact with the leaves of the plants.

We will apply a 2nd herbicide application on Memorial Day after the morning shotgun is complete and the course is closed to kill any remaining turf regrowth prior to physically removing the grass staring on June 1st.
