Course Update: A Welcome Rainfall and a Look Ahead
Sunday night’s 0.8" of rainfall was a welcome boost for Glen Eagle. The turf responded beautifully—color is full and vibrant, and vigorous growth is showing across the course. While the last few days have been cooler and overcast, the upcoming forecast looks ideal, with sunny skies and temperatures ranging from the mid-50s to 80 degrees over the next week.
Although the rain gave our turf and plants a lift, it did little to improve lake levels. We remain nearly 20" below average for the year. I’m keeping a close eye on both water levels and the long-range forecast. So far, trends point toward a dry winter. Coming off an already dry summer, this could require us to reduce irrigation earlier than usual this season. My hope is that we can receive an inch or more of rain each month to help sustain our current water usage through the next rainy season—but we are watching the conditions very closely in case conditions stay dry.
On the maintenance side, last week’s pinestraw application has freshened up both the course and the common grounds. Palm tree trimming continues and should be completed on the course by the end of this week.
Other than the water situation, we are focused routine maintenance and detail work as we move closer and closer to the start of 2026!
