Glen Eagle Maintenance (4/18/25)

This week I only have one thing on my mind. Lack of rain. I know it’s that time of year again, time to worry about running out of irrigation water but now matter how many times we make it thru dry season, extended periods without rain are always concerning.

Lack of rain since Hurricane Milton has left us 5.08” behind our normal average rainfall and the drought index has climbed into the severe range.

Unfortunately there is no real forecast for rain in the next 10 days and the temperatures are expected to rise to 90 degrees for all of next week. That will tax our already low lakes even more to the point where we may have to reduce irrigation in common areas, communities and the golf course over the coming weeks in order to sustain lake levels until rain starts.

The real issue is we don’t know when the rain will come but it could be well into June. Running out of available irrigation would be catastrophic to the entire Glen Eagle community so we have to conserve sooner rather than later.

Conservation will cause many areas to turn brown and look like they are dead. Most areas will be ok and return to normal when rain resumes in the summer.

For now, the course is still looking pretty good overall…

But is already showing many dry areas…

The intake, where water is pulled into the pump, is already partially out of the water…

And the lake levels are getting very low…

For now all we can do is our best rain dances 😁
