Golf Course
For September, the weather has been really nice here in Naples. Since Hurricane Idalia the overnight temperatures have dropped into the low 70’s and at times upper 60’s but the lower humidity is what is really noticable. We are still over 20” behind on rainfall and at this point I have stopped saying it will start any day. I have given up hope that our summer will turn “normal” and will just be great full for any rain we do get.
You can see in this picture how low the lake banks are, normally the water level would be up onto the turf.
The course was looking good heading into our last maintenance closure of the year.
This week we have been tearing it up a bit but all for the long term benefit of keeping the course in the best possible condition during the upcoming season.

Topdressing greens
The greens are fertilized and watered before they are topdressed. Once topdressed the sand is brushed in to fill the holes then rolled to smooth the surfaces. We repeat the brushing and rolling daily until the sand had been incorporated enough to start mowing them.
We also core aerified the tees, fairways and roughs this week.
Once the aerifiers were done, the tees and fairways were circle cut and roughs were mowed.
Then tees and the fairways that are normally the wettest (3,8,13,17) were topdressed.
It has been a very productive week that has gone by way too fast.
Facilities
The new exterior building lights were installed this week and give the buildings a fresh new modern look.
While the lights were being hung, Hector worked on several inconspicuous projects and one in the Billiards room a bit more visible. Hanging an additional pool cue rack and ping pong paddle and ping pong ball holder.
