 Golf Course

We were fortunate that Hurricane Idalia didn’t make landfall in SW Florida and wish everyone in the big bend area of FL a speedy and full recovery. I had hoped for more rain as the hurricane passed by as we ended up with only 1.5” of rain. Any rain is welcomed and will help the golf course with growth and color but we still have a long way to go until we have enough water to make us thru the upcoming dry season. We are 25.31” behind where we were this time last year and 22.37” behind 2021 for the same period. With 3 to 4 feet of lake bank showing, hopefully we will start to catch up in September.

As we head into the Labor Day weekend, we are looking forward to a little down time before next week maintenance closure. Our primary focus during the closure will be on aerfying greens but will also work on other cultural practices and topdressing to benefit the course during the upcoming season.

The putting green doesn’t normally get much love in my posts so here are a couple pics of it looking pretty good this week…
