Golf Course
This week is our 1st of 3 summer maintenance closures. Our focus this closure will be on aerification (greens, tees, fairways & roughs), and scalping of all turf (except greens).
Here are some of the tasks we are performing.

We are lowering heights of cut (HOC) to scalp off the old growth and allow new growth at the base of the plant. This will also help with density, as the turf will naturally tighten up when the HOC is lower.
Our normal tee and fwy HOC is 0.70”, the picture below of 17 fairway mowed at 0.50” and shows how smooth cutting off the old growth makes the turf. Our goal is to get the tees and fairways down to 0.25”, mow them at 0.25” until we reopen on the 13th then raise them up to 0.50” until the next closure.
For reference, here is a list of the “normal” HOC for each area and our goal HOC for this closure.
Greens: 0.125” to 0.125”
Tees/Fwys: 0.70” to 0.25”
Roughs: 1.5” to 0.75”

While the course is closed, Hector took the opportunity to pressure wash the roof and area surrounding the restrooms on #13.

With rainy season right around the corner, Hector also did some maintenance (cleaning) of the drains between the Restaurant and the Activities Center.
